Abstract
Art therapy is an area of professional practice based mainly on the foundations of art and psychology, which uses various types of artistic expressions with a therapeutic purpose, which aims to improve people's health and quality of life. This work aims to get to know Art Therapy and its main artistic resources, reflecting on the benefits of using this practice for people's mental health. This research is bibliographic in nature, supported by the literature review on the subject, historically contextualizing the emergence of Art Therapy and its main foundations. The question that questionizes this study is: How does the use of the artistic manifestations used in Art Therapy contribute to people's lives? The reflection developed in this work allowed us to know Art Therapy, how it works and what are its benefits, allowing individuals to express their subjectivity in different ways. We conclude that this therapeutic practice is an important tool in improving people's health, whether they are children, adults or the elderly.
