Abstract

ABSTRACT: This is a report on the experience about the undergrad in Public Health at the 1st National Congress of Licensees in Public Health (I CONABASC) held between May 22 and 23, 2021 in virtual form. The event had wide participation of professors, students, and graduates. The debates were held from dialogued exhibitions and presentations of works that contributed to the knowledge about undergrad in Public Health and the professional performance of graduates. Among the themes discussed by the graduates, the conflict between the predominance of the occurrence of courses in the night shift and the functioning of health services in internship fields during the day shift is highlighted. Such conflict between the shifts hindered the offer of internships in the training process of these graduates. Furthermore, the lack of partnerships between universities and private institutions to carry out practical activities could be highlighted, given its configuration as a professional field for graduates. Advances and achievements for training: approval by the National Council of Education (CNE/MEC) of the National Curriculum Guidelines for the undergraduate course in Public Health in 2017, the inclusion of the occupation of sanitarist in the Brazilian Classification of Occupations (CBO) in 2017, creation of the Association of Bachelors in Public Health (ABASC) in 2019 and the processing of Bill no. 1821/2021 for professional recognition as a sanitarist. This study contributes to the debate in the academic community about training and graduates in Public Health.
