Abstract

Primary Health Care has a crucial and necessary role in the approach to community health and health surveillance. However, the work process is covered by difficulties related to scarce human resources, overload of activities, in addition to the need to improve physical-structural characteristics and to obtain the equipment and materials required to carry out health practices. Thus, the objective of this study is to analyze the working conditions, infrastructure and management organization of primary health care units. This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study with a qualitative approach. 45 professional nurses were interviewed. Data collection took place through individual interviews. During the interviews it was possible to observe that the speeches demonstrate the lack of individual protection equipment. In addition, the speeches demonstrate the lack of professionals to manage primary care services, representing an overload on the nurse, who accumulates assistance actions for the user of health services and the organization of administrative demands. It is important to reflect on the working conditions offered to health professionals, not only in terms of remuneration, but also in the availability of adequate spaces for the reception of users and in conditions to meet the demands of health work in PHC. The management of health services also deserves to be highlighted, with the need to include qualified managers and solidarity of team members in the co-responsibility of health planning actions.
