Abstract

Objective: to present the results of a survey of news in the written press on the performance of the Surveillance of Ports, Airports and Borders-PAF, during the Covid-19 pandemic. Methodology: exploratory, descriptive-analytical study on journalistic data from January to December 2020, collected on the Folha de São Paulo website on the subject and compared with the infralegal legislation on the subject. Results: 614 news were found in the period involving the theme. After reading, 25 journalistic articles resulted. Of the legislation, 338 reports, resolutions and technical notes were analyzed, but only 12 were focused on the theme. In general, it is possible to infer that Anvisa's manifestations occurred even before the WHO declared a pandemic in March 2020 and published two days before the mapped news. Conclusion: The results obtained corroborate the idea that the media wide, during a pandemic, focuses on aspects such as the presentation of news that reflect the decisions of competent bodies in the field of public health, such as Anvisa. In this way, the joint work between the public sector, which plays an extremely important role for society and for public health with journalism, is of paramount importance, as it cooperates so that the information and guidelines that were so necessary during the pandemic, to reach the largest number of individuals.
