Abstract

According to the Nursing Practice Law No. 7498 of 19861, as well as Decree 94,406 of 19872, it is exclusive to nurses to carry out Nursing consultations and, when part of the health team, to prescribe medications pre-established in the Public Health Programs and in a routine approved by the health institution. In the family health strategy in Brazil, the Ministry of Health, through Ordinance 2436 of 20173, regulates that nurses must carry out nursing consultations, procedures, request complementary exams, prescribe medications according to protocols (our emphasis), clinical and therapeutic guidelines, or other technical regulations established by the federal, state, municipal or Federal District manager, observing the legal provisions of the profession. The aim of this study was to review, update, illustrate, expand and republish the Paraíba Nurses' Protocol4. This is an e-book compiled with the basic care notebooks and Public Health Programs for the Primary Health Care team, revised between April and May 2022. It was expanded from 19 to 24 chapters, illustrations were inserted, chapters related to advanced nursing practice such as the insertion of an intrauterine device (IUD) were added, and it was organized by life cycles and alphabetical order of the topics to facilitate consultation by the professional. The Primary Health Care Nurse Protocol in the state of Paraíba supports nurses in their daily practice and is available in e-book form on the COREN-PB website at https://www.corenpb.gov.br/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/ebook-Coren-1-1.pdf.
