Abstract
Objective: To analyze the percentage coverage of the Family Health Strategy in remote rural municipalities of Pará compared to the North, Brazil, and by health regions. Method: Observational, ecological study using data collected from secondary databases of the Ministry of Health to calculate the percentage coverage of the Family Health Strategy in Pará and remote rural municipalities. Data from 2009 to 2020 were analyzed. Result: The average percentage coverage of the Family Health Strategy in Pará was statistically lower than that found in the Northern region and in Brazil. This result was also found when analyzing only the coverage in remote rural municipalities of the state, region, and Brazil, as well as in the Araguaia and Xingu health regions. The study revealed inequalities in the expansion of municipalities over the quadrenniums. There was a correlation between indicators of consultations and tests for pregnant women in Pará and remote rural areas. Conclusion: The expansion of the population coverage of the Family Health Strategy in Pará was not able to surpass the coverage of the Northern region and Brazil. In the remote rural municipalities of this state, the expansion was marked by inequality in municipalities that have historical problems in the social and economic context.
